Description
1979 – 1999 Susan B Anthony Dollar Complete 11 coin Uncirculated BU Business Strike Philadelphia/Denver/San Francisco Coin Set in New Whitman FolderUp for sale is a reasonably priced 11 coin 1979 – 1999 Uncirculated BU Philadelphia/Denver/San Francisco (PDS) Coin Set in a new Whitman Folder.
All of the coins are
uncirculated (most from mint sets or mint bags) and all exhibit original mint luster (some may have light toning from being in the rolls/bags for decades).
This is a nice uncirculated set showcasing
all dates from the Susan B Anthony Dollar series released into general circulation
in a new Whitman folder (note this set contains no proofs and the Whitman Folder it comes in also has openings for Eisenhower Dollars which are not included in this set).
Given I have more than one of these sets to sell, t
he coins in the pictures will go to the first buyer with others receiving equal quality uncirculated coins. Note that all of these coins are clad as there were no silver issues for the Susan B Anthony series. I have sold a number of these sets in recent months (>225) as they are nice uncirculated sets at a very reasonable price.
The Susan B Anthony series began in 1979 with the end of the large dollar Eisenhower Series in 1978. The hope was that a small dollar coin would circulate better than a large bulky "silver" dollar coin of years past. The Susan B Anthony series was minted from 1979 through 1981 at all of the major mints (Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco) but did not circulate well and was derided as a "Carter quarter" due to the relative similarity in size to a quarter, as well as the similar edge reeding and color to a quarter. Between 1982 and 1998 no small dollar coins were minted in the US. In 1999 the mint once again minted the Susan B Anthony coins, this time only at Philadelphia and Denver before with the start of the new millennium a new small dollar coin, the Sacagawea Dollar series, began in hopes of getting Americans to adopt dollar coins (unfortunately even with the new "golden" color and smooth reeding of the Sacagawea, that series does not circulate either and is only minted today for collectors).
