    The back of the card reads: Mike D and MCA formed The Beastie Boys as a New York City punk-rock band in 1981. The success of a hip-hop single, "Cookie Puss" (1983), inspired the group to turn to rap. With new member King Ad-Rock, The Beastie Boys were introduced to rap fans across the country in 1985, playing with Run-D.M.C. and L.L. Cool J. Licensed to Ill (1986), The Beastie Boys' debut album, stayed at #1 for seven weeks and sold over five million copies worldwide.
