    Description

    A pair of black abstract carved figures in a black stone. They certainly look to be a pair, perhaps studies for a larger piece. I live in New Mexico and there are a considerable number of very gifted Native American stone carvers. Carving is a part of their proud heritage, stone fetishes and larger sculpture. (I can not be certain of their provenance however it is probable given my area.) They look like two human figures to me, or perhaps two bears. There are no signatures on identifying marks (hence why I think they are studies.) There is a chip and a crack in one figure, although it looks to be part of the natural stone, not damage. Each is less than 2" tall by 1" with one slightly taller. They do make interesting desk objects and do sit stably.
